M&S festive offerings: Christmas Colin the Caterpillar and Percy Pig cake

Cassie Stokes

Colin the Caterpillar has got a delicious Christmas makeover.

There is no wrong time to have a caterpillar cake in my opinion, whether it’s your birthday or just a random Tuesday evening you celebrate with the delicious treat.

I remember the first time I had a caterpillar cake from M&S. The shoes were my favourite part – and honestly, still are.

Anyway, you will all recognise the insect shaped dessert from a birthday celebration but now Colin has gone and got all festive. Yep, that’s right – the long cake now has some festive additions that will make your Christmas extra delicious.

The latest addition to M&S selection of treats was announced on Instagram, captioned: “BREAKING NEWS: COLIN’S GONE CHRISTMASSY! Get your mitts on one of our limited edition festive Colin cakes in store from TODAY to tuck into this Christmas.”

Colin is still the same chocolate Swiss roll we’re used to, but for Christmas he also has Christmassy treats including bells, baubles, presents and Christmas trees. He’s also sporting an edible Santa hat. Yum.

Percy Pig has also had a festive upgrade with the pink pig’s face appearing on everything from mince pies to mini-bites – and now a Percy Pig Celebration Cake.

M&S announced the new delicious looking pink cake on Instagram, saying: “If you thought we couldn’t top our Percy Pig mini bites announcement earlier in the week then think again, because we’re back, and this time we come with cake!

“It’s bursting with fruity jam and Percy Pig flavour buttercream, finished with sprinkles and topped with Percy Pigs. You *could* wait for your next birthday to pick one up, but honestly, why would you?”

Percy’s celebration cake is basically layers of sponge, with pink buttercream and jam in between. Perfect for Christmas… or any day, really.
