Bulletproof coffee: Why everyone is giving their coffee this healthy upgrade

If you are a coffee addict (like us) you might be interested to know that there is a new craze in town that promises to make your java not only taste great, but also be all sorts of beneficial for your health.

Say hello to bulletproof coffee – which, while not exactly new by now, is most certainly a trend that is only getting bigger.

What is it? Well, put simply, bulletproofing your coffee means adding butter and oil to it – and while it really doesn’t sound all that appetising, once you have tasted it, you might actually change your mind. The added fats are thought to increase energy and support weight loss by keeping drinkers satisfied for longer, and good fats, like coconut oil, is also god for anything from your skin to your brain.

Fancy trying to make your very own bulletproof coffee this morning? Here is how:

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon high quality butter unsalted (you can clarify it first if you’re dairy free)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 8 – 10 ounces strong coffee
Instructions
  1. Add butter and oil to the coffee cup, pour hot coffee over top.  Blend with a stick blender (or just stir vigorously).
  2. Enjoy!
