Cadbury Roses Are Changing. Here’s Why…

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Have you ever opened a box of Cadbury Roses to find the wrapper had twisted off a chocolate and tainted the others inside?

Apparently it’s a problem. A big enough problem that the chocolate makers have overhauled the boxes, making some big changes along the way.

Dumping 80 years of tradition, the twist-off foil wrappers have been replaced with tear-off versions so there can be no accidental wrapper loss.

The company, which has been producing the gift box of chocolates since 1938, has also changed the shape of two of its most popular sweets (the hazelnut in caramel and the coffee escape) to ‘melt in the mouth easily and result in a longer moment of joy’.

The new shapes will enter boxes of Roses from the end of this month.

The outside of the box hasn’t escaped an upgrade either. The modernised design, featuring a large blooming red rose and a new font, will appear on supermarket shelves later this year.
