Dad visited by police after ‘unintentionally’ giving newborn son hot sauce

A dad was visited by police after accidentally giving his newborn son hot sauce.

Paul Dawson said that he and his partner Laurencia Wood were having dinner in TGI Fridays with their newborn son, Ben, when Wood asked the new dad to hold his son.

On Facebook, Dawson said that he took Ben in his arms and the newborn began sucking his knuckles.

It was then that the 39-year-old realised he had been eating hot wings a few minutes before.

Sky News reports that Dawson wrote: “Apparently five-day-old babies don’t like it when their dads put their fingers in their mouths after eating hot wings.

“Unintentionally by the way. Lol.”

A few days later, Dawson was upset and confused to discover police at his door asking him if he had been feeding his newborn hot sauce.

“It upset me, I walked away from them saying ‘I’m not even speaking to you’,” he said.

“It was supposed to be a happy time, I took a few days off to spend with just my girlfriend and just my son.

“It really spoiled what was supposed to have been a nice week together. I haven’t had an apology.”

Dawson later found out that somebody had reported his status to police. He said that he didn’t blame the officers for making the call, but assumed they would have checked his Facebook post before arriving at his door.

“Ben didn’t cry, he didn’t scream, he pulled a funny little face and that was it,” the dad said.

“To go from a lighthearted funny little occurrence to having the police at your door was shocking to say the least.”
