A Drive-Thru Starbucks Has Landed On Irish Shores

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Do you dream of a world where you don’t have to unbuckle the car seats, unload the kids and unfold the buggy just to grab a Vanilla Bean Macchiato? Well, have we got news for you: the Starbucks drive-thru has arrived in Ireland.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, the first Starbucks drive-through will open at Connswater shopping centre, which is currently undergoing a make-over.

The store, which will be over 3,300 square feet in size, will open before the end of 2016 with the construction of the new Starbucks expected to start in October.

According to asset manager of Killultagh Estates – the company behind the Connswater shopping centre – Laura Mc Carthy said the new outlet will be the first of its kind in Ireland:

“The decision by Starbucks to choose Connswater as its first location in Northern Ireland for a drive- through store demonstrates the confidence that retailers have in the scheme and its strategic location in east Belfast.”

The drive-thru concept is gaining momentum across the country, with Ireland’s first drive-thru coffee shop opening last year on the Dundrum Road and a drive-thru pharmacy opening in Waterford.

Fingers crossed Starbucks will roll out their handy caffeine window to a town near us.
