Easy-to-make Halloween Candy Apples Your Kids Are Going To Love

It's time to prep for the festive occasion...

HerFamily

Hello you!

These delicious-looking apple caramel sweets are a variation of girl scout camping S’mores, and they look sinful (in a good way).

Channel your inner girl scout, make these fast treats we found on this AH-MAZING blog, bakingdom that we are currently obsessed with! The kids will love ’em!

Serves 7

Ingredients

  • 100g of Caramel
  • 3 x 150g bars of dark, extra dark, milk or white chocolate (what you prefer)
  • Pack of healthy granola or Digestive biscuits crumbs
  • Mini-marshmallows or other topping you like
  • 6/7 apples – I prefer to use Pink ladies, but any apple type is fine.
  • Any colour chocolate to drizzle.
  • Caramel Apple sticks/strong skewers.
  • Greaseproof paper sheets

Method

1. Wash apples and remove the stems.

2. Insert the caramel apple sticks into the apples.

3. Melt the Caramel on low heat until it reaches 76° C or you can use a microwave, on low heat.

4. Dip each apple into the melted caramel and swirl to coat all edges.

5. Immediately after dipping in caramel, roll the apple in your favourite crumb topping.

6. Set on a greased cookie sheet in the fridge to cool (about 15 min).

7. Melt chocolate on a very low heat and be careful not to burn it. You may use a microwave set to a medium heat.

9. Once the caramel is cooled and hardened, dip the apples in chocolate, covering the caramel with as much chocolate as desired. Place chocolate dipped caramel apples on a greaseproof paper lined tray. Allow to set for 1-2 minutes (but do NOT allow chocolate to completely harden).

10. Immediately roll the chocolate dipped apples in mini-marshmallows and place back on the lined tray.

11. Return apples to refrigerator until chocolate is set (approx. 5-10 minutes).

12. After the chocolate is completely set, add even more pizzazz (or whatever the hell you like) by drizzling the apples with the remaining chocolate or some white chocolate.

13. Seal in an airtight container until ready to serve.

Tip: If you pop some cellophane over these spectacular apples with some coloured ribbon, you can gift them or have them as cool party treats, too. Awesome.

Thanks, bakingdom, that’s our Halloween bash sorted!
