French toast in a mug is the perfect treat for kids of all ages

Quick and tasty.

Anna O'Rourke

Making sweet treats with the kids is great fun but can get very messy.

If your little ones are nagging you for something tasty to eat, you could do a lot worse than whipping up a few of these easy mugs of French toast.

Here at HerFamily, we’re big fans of the humble mug cake, whether it’s a classic chocolate version, a healthy cashew butter one or a yummy peanut butter one – what could be handier than something you can make in a matter of minutes.

This recipe from Pinterest is super simple; for this French toast-mug cake hybrid, all you’ll need is an egg, some milk, maple syrup, cinnamon, bread and chocolate chips.

The egg, bread and milk are your base here, so it’s pretty easy to play around with the recipe to make French toast to suit you.

If you’d rather go more natural with it, try swapping the chocolate chips for raisins or even ditching the maple syrup altogether and sweetening your French toast with some blueberries, chopped strawberries or mashed up banana. Easy peasy!

The kids will love that can eat straight from the mug (though make sure it’s cooled before you hand it over!) and the fact that this doesn’t require a mixing bowl or pan? Way less clean-up for you!

This is a recipe you’ll enjoy just as much as your kids.
