People are adding glitter to their eggs and I don’t know how I feel about it

Melissa Carton

When it comes to glitter, for me, the more the better.

Well, usually I would say the more the better but I’m not too sure about this latest glitter trend.

It seems a lot of people have taken to adding glitter to, well, everything and food is no exception!

Recently CafeMom uploaded a video showing sparkles being applied to different food items, and while some look pretty, others made me feel quite ill.

The video was shared on Facebook page I Love Being A Mom and shows a variety of food being glitterfied.

I will admit that I think the coffee and cakes look amazing all sparkling and those macrons are beautiful! I do love a bit of edible glitter when I’m baking.

Others though have crossed over to the dark side, most of all the fried egg.

I actually didn’t want to watch the rest of the video after it started with the egg because it turned my stomach so much. It also doesn’t even look like edible glitter which makes it even worse.

I honestly thought up until that point that glitter gravy was the grossest glitter food that I had come across but I was wrong.

While adding glitter to food might entice the kids to eat their vegetables I just don’t think I have the heart to do that to a carrot.

And let’s face it, kids are dangerous enough using glitter for arts and crafts, can you imagine if it were at the dinner table too?

Nightmare!

Nop, I think I’ll be keeping my glitter where it belongs, in my make up drawer.
