Apparently, you can cook an entire meal in a dishwasher and honestly, what next?

Melissa Carton

Yes, you read that headline correctly.

I was today years old when I discovered that you can cook an entire meal in your dishwasher. Not a word of a lie.

In fact there in an entire YouTube tutorial (possibly more than one I haven’t checked) with instructions on how you can get your dinner ready in the dishwasher before you use it to wash up.

How have I gone all these years without knowing this?

Even worse is the fact that this video has been around for a couple of years and yet here was me cooking my meals in an oven like a fool.

Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

The video hosted by Brandi Milloy shows how you can recreate these delicious recipes in your own home using nothing but some jars and of course a dishwasher.

This wasn’t some mad idea that was plucked out of the air either as it comes from the traditional method of sous vide or ‘under vacuum’ cooking.

Typically when cooking sous vide you would place the food you intend to cook in an airtight container and then place it in a water bath. But why go to the trouble of creating a water bath when you can just chuck it in the dishwasher?

The idea behind this method is that the water will help the food retain its moisture so it could actually come in handy for cooking the Christmas turkey this year.

I’m telling you, we’re living in the future.
