So THIS Is How Much Coffee or Tea You Should Drink Daily And We’re All Screwed

HerFamily

I would say that I drink 8-10 cups of tea every day. My HerFamily colleagues are also fond of a bit of caffeine (especially on a Monday).

But we might rethink just how many cups we consume after speaking to nutritional therapist Elsa Jones, who says that one or two is enough per day.

“In terms of caffeine, personally, one or two cups of caffeinated drinks a day is fine. It’s when we go over that that it starts to lead to problems. One or two cups of tea or coffee a day is fine,” she explained before suggesting an alternative first thing in the morning.

“It can be beneficial to start the day with a cup of warm water and lemon juice as that kickstarts the body in terms of detoxing and cleansing… Hydrating yourself in the morning is key so get a glass of water in too.”

Skipping breakfast can also leave you craving foods or drinks that are high in caffeine and sugar, so make sure to make time for that first meal of the day.

Elsa said: “If you go too long without eating, your blood sugar levels can drop further and that can then affect your food choices. Your body will start to crave quick pick-me-ups such as caffeine and high-sugar snacks.

“That’s when you make poor food choices, so what you choose to eat for breakfast sets the tone for the rest of the day in terms of blood sugar balance and energy levels. Research shows that ¾ of people feel the effects. If you skip it, you feel it.”

According to research, conducted by multivitamin brand Pharmaton Active Life, over a quarter of people admitted to regularly missing breakfast with approximately three quarters saying that they notice the effects of skipping it.

Some of the effects cited include a lack of concentration, low mood and irritability… we’re just worried we’ll be feeling these when we reduce our tea or coffee consumption!
