The Galway Food Festival will go on hiatus for 2019

Olivia Hayes

The Galway Food Festival has announced that it will take a hiatus in 2019.

Since 2012, the festival has been one of the highlights of the year, with people from all over the country (and beyond) travelling to Galway to experience delicious food from various food outlets and producers.

However, in order for the food community to grow, organisers have decided to halt to festival to look into funding opportunities and development for the future.

JP McMahon, Chairperson of the Galway Food Festival said of the decision: “Over the past seven years the Galway Food Festival has been crucial in establishing Galway as a food destination.

“Its legacy has been continued in various ways, such as through Food On The Edge which grew out of the Galway Food Festival and will be returning this year.”

The press release on the hiatus stated: “The committee would like to thank all funding agencies, sponsors and everyone who has supported the festival over the past seven years and look forward to the Galway Food Festival returning to Galway to in 2020.”

We look forward to welcoming it back next year.
