Cathy Donohue

Have you tried it yet?

A champagne that you can buy in Aldi for €19.99 has just been named as one of the best in the world.

Yes, Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut, which is on in sale in Irish Aldi stores throughout the country received a “silver outstanding medal” at the 2018 International Wine and Spirits Competition.

This isn’t the first time this particular champagne has received recognition either for this award is its third international title this year.

Not so bad.

The bubbly, which we might just have to stock up on, is made by Champagne house Philizot & Fils and people are raving about it.

Speaking about this particular champagne, Sam Caporn, a wine expert at Aldi said:

“In my honest opinion, the Veuve Monsigny Champagne Brut is one of the very best, if not THE best value champagne in the UK today”

“It is staggering quality for such a reasonably priced, tasty, sophisticated fizz”.

When it comes to storing champagne, there are a couple of things to keep in mind such as storing it in a cool, dark place and then refrigerating a couple of days before consuming.

While champagne can be stored upright, it’s best to store it horizontally if keeping it for a couple of months.
