Many parents have become critical after a video of a toddler being fed wasabi by her mum went viral.

The video in question shows a little girl being asked by her mum if she wants to try the spicy, Japanese paste.

The girl says “no” twice before her mum places the wasabi into the child’s mouth.

The toddler looks confused and says “help.”

Although most people have said that the little girl’s reaction is “sweet” or “adorable,” others have criticised the mum’s actions.

“Why would you give your child wasabi,” read one comment on Facebook. “This is just plain cruel.”

“Personally, I wouldn’t be giving wasabi to such a young child, even as a joke,” wrote another.

However, others who watched the video saw that the girl did not appear to be in any pain at all, and that she was simply confused by the taste of the paste.

One person on YouTube wrote:

“I agree, this is definitely bad parenting by a sadistic mother. There is a 110% chance that this baby will be scarred for life and will have PTSD from trying a little bit of wasabi.”

They were, of course, being sarcastic.

Another gave kudos to the mum for exposing her daughter to different foods from such a young age.

So, what do you think – are you going to feed your child wasabi from now on?
