Reindeer chow is the Christmas treat the kids will LOVE making (and eating!)

Trine Jensen-Burke

In American homes, making Reindeer Chow (sometimes also known as Puppy Chow at other times of the year) is a much loved tradition in the weeks coming up to Christmas.

The beauty of this treat is that you can use whatever sweet, salty and crunchy combinations you like. M&Ms (red and green ones are a great Christmas-y touch), pretzels, peanuts, cheerios, rice crispies, walnuts, cookies, popcorn, cranberries; if you have it in your pantry, go ahead and use it. The only other thing you need is chocolate, either white or regular, that is to be melted over all the other goodies.

Chocolate melted over a bunch of other treats? Trust me, your kids will LOVE making this.

Method

Put all the the ingredients into a clear plastic bag and bash them with a rolling pin until they are broken into smaller pieces.

Melt chocolate in the microwave.

Pour melted chocolate over the crunchy/salty mixture.

Wait for chocolate to harden, then break into small chunks.

TIP: These make great party favors!
