Royal family Christmas cookies

If you are currently having a giant The Crown-shaped hole in your life, maybe these royal family-approved cookies might help.

Lucky for us all, the royal family has shared a video with their favorite Christmas cookie recipe.

“The Royal pastry chefs are excited to share their recipe for ‘Cinnamon Stars’ with you to enjoy over Christmas. #ARoyalChristmas,” the palace wrote in their caption.

The Christmas cookies are made with citrus meringue, ground almonds, mixed peel, lemon zest, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves.

First, icing sugar, egg whites, and lemon juice are whipped to a soft meringue. Next, finely ground almonds, mixed citrus peel, lemon zest, and spices are added to the meringue to create a flavorful dough.

Then, the dough is rolled out and more meringue is spread on top of the dough, then individual shapes such as stars and diamonds are cut out and baked.

And, and if you are wondering how long the cookies will keep, the royal chefs shared that “the Cinnamon Stars will keep in an airtight container for up to two months.”
