Sangria slushies are this summer’s IT drink (and you’ll see why)

Trine Jensen-Burke

Let the kids keep their frozen slush puppies or popsicles – this one for you, mama!

We are sure you have all had sangria before (what else would you be doing with yourself when on holidays in Spain, for starters!), but have you had the slushy variety?

If not, you have been seriously missing out.

The best bit? This cocktail practically makes itself in the blender.

Just throw everything in, then pour into a pan and put in the freezer for at least two hours to slush up. And voila; (frozen) cocktail time!

Ingredients
    • 750ml bottle Red Moscato
    • 1 cup raspberries
    • 1 cup strawberries
    • 1 cup blueberries
    • 1/4 cup Cointreau or Triple Sec
    • 1/4 cup Chambord or Blackberry Brandy
    • 1/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
    • 2 tablespoons simple syrup

Instructions

Add all ingredients to a blender and pulse until blended. Pour the sangria into a 9×13-inch pan and place in the freezer for two hours.

Break up semi-frozen drink into a slushie and serve with a wide straw.
