Is This The Secret Ingredient To Making The Ultimate Chocolate Cake?

Ever baked a chocolate cake but found it too dry? Or maybe you just feel like you can never get quite as good as you’d like. Well, this could be the answer.

A chef from Kansas City, Jasper J Mirabile Jnr, is claiming that the secret ingredient for creating the ultimate chocolate cake is… mayonnaise.

We know what you’re thinking, what madness is this?!

But he explains in his recent column for the Kansas City Star that it was traditionally used as a substitute for oil and works best because it balances out the sugar whilst stopping the cake from becoming dry.

He wrote: “My father thought [the cakes] were a little too dry [so] my mother suggested using mayonnaise because she had seen the recipe in a cookbook and in an ad for Hellmann’s Mayonnaise in a magazine.”

Jasper J Mirabile Jnr runs an Italian restaurant which is apparently known for its delicious and moist chocolate cakes.
