Serve up this festive cocktail tonight, and your guests will still be talking about it next Christmas

Trine Jensen-Burke

It is safe to say that not all drinks are created equal.

And while it is still perfectly acceptable to offer your guests a glass of Pinot Grigio or an Irish Coffee, how about making them a drink they will still be talking about come next Christmas?

I personally have a love affair with peppermint all year around (I pretty much think I am the only customer in Starbucks who ask for a shot of peppermint syrup in my latte when it is not Christmas time), but come December all bets are off, and I joyfully add peppermint to anything from hot chocolates to oatmeal cookies.

As it turns out, my favourite flavor also works an absolute treat in cocktails. Mamas, feast your eyes (and taste-buds) on the Peppermint Eggnog Milkshake Short. (It sounds too good to be true, but, yet, here it is!). Seriously; if you are a guest at my house this holiday season, this is what you will be slurping on:

Ingredients:

eggnog-21

Directions

Blend together 2 parts peppermint ice cream to one part eggnog.

Rim the glasses with with crushed peppermint by dabbing them with sugar water and dipping them in peppermint.

Fill your glasses with the milkshake mixture and place them in the freezer until you’re ready to serve.

Break the peppermint bark into halves and place them on top just before serving.

Now, prepare to get crowned the cocktail queen!
