This Is The Trick That Will (Apparently) Stop You Snacking

HerFamily

I don’t know about you but I certainly find it difficult to walk into the kitchen without peering into the fridge or checking what’s in the cupboard to see if anything tickles my fancy.

While snacking between meals is by no means bad for you, especially if it’s a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts, it can become a bad habit particularly if you reach for something sweet (which is often the case for me).

But it seems that there is a trick to combat it.

According to Women’s Health Magazine, a recent study found that having a clean and tidy kitchen reduces the amount you eat.

The research, which was published in Environment & Behaviour, involved 100 participants who were told they could eat as much (or as little) food as they wanted in both a messy and neat kitchen. The nibbles consisted of both unhealthy and healthy options.

It was found that those in the untidy kitchen ate twice as many cookies as those in the neat one, whilst both consumed the same amount of healthy food.

Of course the experiment was a small one but hey, I’m willing to give anything a try if it stops me reaching for that fourth biscuit!
