This Nutella grilled cheese is the sandwich of our dreams

It IS almost the weekend...

Katie Mythen-Lynch

They do say opposites attract.

And while I’m not quite sure Nutella and cheese are opposites exactly, the latest sandwich creation to go viral begs to differ.

At first glance, a snack containing both of these certifiably addictive foodstuffs AT ONCE would appear to be an elaborate trap designed to capture a weak Weight Watcher or carb counter.

Unfortunately, however, it’s legit in terms of flavour, provided you use this recipe created by chef Joe Carroll of the famed St. Anselm and Fette Sau in Brooklyn.

Sold on the concept? Right then, prepare your taste buds because this is happening:

INGREDIENTS

8 tablespoons Nutella

8 thick slices Italian-style bread

Eight ½-inch-thick slices stracchino cheese

¼ cup melted butter

DIRECTIONS

1. Spread 2 tablespoons of Nutella each evenly over 4 slices of bread, then top with 2 slices of stracchino. Make 4 sandwiches with the remaining slices of bread.

2. Prepare a charcoal or gas grill for medium-hot cooking or place a grill pan over medium-high heat.

3. Brush both sides of each sandwich with melted butter.

4. Grill the sandwiches until light golden brown on both sides, 2 to 3 minutes on each side.
