Three quick and easy snacks to whip up ahead of tonight's Late Late Toy Show

The kids will be delighted.

The most wonderful date of the year is finally upon us. Yes, the single greatest thing to emerge from this country, The Late Late Toy Show, will be hitting our screens tonight on RTÉ One at 9:35pm.

No doubt the kids are so excited, but the show is a real treat for adults too.

With this year’s theme, The Greatest Showman finally emerging, excitement has really peaked.

In a lovely statement, Toy Show host, Ryan Tubridy said:

“This year we are celebrating the kid who doesn’t get Snapchatted, or who doesn’t always have someone to sit beside on the bus. These kids aren’t lonely or unhappy, they just find joy in their own way.”

Households up and down the country are thinking about what snacks to get in and if you don’t want to do the traditional popcorn and sweets, we’ve sourced three simple recipes you can whip up in no time:

1) Peanut Butter Cups:

If you’re a busy mum with limited time on your hands, these three ingredient peanut butter cups we spotted on Tasty that just contain icing sugar, peanut butter and chocolate are lifesavers.

2) Healthy Nachos:

This video shows how you can make healthier nachos that kids will love. Baked chips, canned black beans, low-fat cheese is all you will need to create this snack that you can prep in seconds and it only takes around ten minutes in the oven. Salsa, sour cream and guacamole can be used as toppings. Delicious!

3) Frozen Smoothie Popsicles

For a really healthy snack tonight, simply make your kid’s favourite smoothie and pour into ice lolly moulds. Freeze for a couple of hours and voilà.

We can’t wait for one of the best family nights in of the year!
