No wall space for book shelves? No problem.

It’s smart, simple and cheap

What is it about kids’ rooms that always feel like they’re bursting at the seams?

No matter how many times we nag them to tidy (or just clean them up ourselves), kids’ rooms stay feeling cluttered. There’s just so much stuff. And that catalogue of stuff grows and grows with every Christmas and birthday.

A bookshelf often takes up so much space, while walled bookshelves can make a room feel smaller. But most of us want to keep some sort of book display in the kids’ rooms that will encourage them to read.

Reading is fundamental a number of reasons – it feeds a child’s imagination, adds to their vocabulary and presents them with scenarios from which they can learn empathy.

But if you’re short on space and want to cut down on clutter, there’s actually a really handy home hack for book displays.

All you have to do is attach IKEA’s Bekväm spice racks – just €4 each – to the side of either a desk or dresser like this mam did.

You just need a level, some screws and a drill and there you have a front-facing, clutter-free book display. Simples!
