Work is already underway.

Construction for new public Baths will start “in the coming weeks,” it has been announced.

Yes, Dún Laoghaire is set to welcome the Baths as a way to bring in more people to the area, such as “sea swimmers and families.”

As well as the open pool, the Dún Laoghaire Baths will see a new café installed into an outdoor terrace with views over the bay, as well as studios for artists and performers. There will also be new life guard facilities created in the area.

Speaking last night, Councillor Tom Murphy said the new development “represents a significant long-term investment in this public facility for residents and visitors to our county.”

The Dún Laoghaire Baths are expected to take about 22 months to complete, bringing to opening up to the year 2020.

It is expected that the project will cost around €10 million.
