Bride-to-be slammed for her list of ‘attendance requirements’ for guests

Keeley Ryan

Yikes.

A bride-to-be has been slammed for sending a list of ‘attendance requirements’ her guests need to follow – or they won’t be allowed in.

The bride’s sister took to Reddit to share her list of demands for the wedding, which apparently takes place in just a few weeks.

She began:

“I haven’t been involved in the planning as I have my own life but from what my mom has relaid to me it’s been a nightmare.

“My sister want’s a ‘fancy’ wedding and is micro-managing everything. I have no idea how normal this is but from what i’ve heard she broke down crying when her fiance bought the wrong shade of white napkins.

“Her and both my and the grooms parents have invested a lot of money into this too the tune of over 50k.”

She added that while she thinks the whole thing is “ridiculous”, she hadn’t felt it was her place to say anything until recently when she got the list of ‘attendance requirements’.

She continued:

“These requirements were a joke. Some of them were just nonsensical like what color ties are and aren’t allowed or that no one can talk to the wife or groom alone.

“But some were absurd like the fact that no one is supposed to take pictures except the photographer for the whole event, no facial hair will be allowed or you will not be pictured, or that any women with shoulder length or longer hair must have it cut or wear it in a pony tail.”

The woman explained that the e-mail got even worse: there was a list of “gift requirements” the guests were expected to follow, or they apparently wouldn’t be allowed into the venue.

She continued:

“The worst though were the ‘gift requirements’.

“According to the email a gift of 300$ (€266) value or more MUST be given (or $250 (€222) cash) or you will not be allowed into the venue.

“The email also ends with ‘Those who choose not to follow these rules will be asked to leave. Please think of the bride and groom’s wishes during this stressful time.'”

And while she called her mum to make sure it wasn’t “a late April fools joke and it was real”, things took another turn.

She continued:

“This is a joke, right? Like I can understand micromanaging but that’s just absurd. I called my mom to make sure this was not a late April fools joke and it was real.

“I told her that I won’t be going because of this. That was wrong apparently because my sister has been blowing me up saying that I’m being selfish and that i’m ruining ‘her day’.

“My parents agree with her and say i’m being an asshole. My parents have told me that they will pay for my gift but I still think that all of these rules are a joke.”

The other Reddit users were equally as unimpressed with the bride’s email, with many supporting the original poster’s decision not to go.

One person wrote:

“I can’t even fathom being so self-indulgent as to make all the demands listed. Or any demands, really.

“You pay for your own wedding and don’t expect a thing in return. You get stuff, sure, but there is no price for entry.

“That is beyond rude and into disrespectful. People want to share your happy occasions, and those expectations ruin that.”

Someone else commented:

“She doesn’t care about having friends and family there, she cares about being selfish, getting as much out of it as possible, and the people are only there to make them feel good.

“Not only would I not go, I would sincerely hope everyone else refuses to go as well. They want nobody to look better than them, then have nobody else there.”

Another added:

“She’s gone full Bridezilla. Run before she eats Tokyo.”

A different person said:

“If she’s acting this way then don’t worry, you can be at her next wedding.”
