Bridesmaid furious after bride uninvites son from destination wedding last minute

Keeley Ryan

Yikes.

A bridesmaid has told how she was left furious after the bride uninvited her son from her destination wedding at the last minute.

The mum took to Mumsnet to ask for advice on what she should do.

She explained that in January, the bride-to-be invited her and her family to a destination wedding taking place in July.

The mum was asked to be a bridesmaid and was assured that, despite the invite saying ‘no children’, her two-year-old son could attend.

She explained [via The Sun]:

“The wedding invite stated ‘no children’ and when I queried this she said they were having an adults only wedding – except obviously their own children would be there [aged one and three].

“She told me that as I am a bridesmaid, my son [aged two] could come and she also knows I have no childcare options (dad is too old and sick and no parents on husband’s side).

“All sounds good and I say I would love to be a bridesmaid.

“My husband and I booked the time off work, the accommodation and the transport. Everything is now paid for.”

This meant that her young son was no longer allowed to attend the wedding.

The original poster continued:

“She suggested I come alone and leave my husband at home with our son.

“I understand that it is her wedding and therefore her rules. After all, they have paid for it.

“But to say yes and then change your mind? When everything is already booked? What would you do? Am I being unreasonable?”

The other parents were quick to brand the bride as ‘awful’ and an ‘entitled brat.’

One person wrote:

“What an awful friend. And telling you after you’ve booked! She’s no friend.

“She’s just an entitled brat – and she knows you situation too. Awful behaviour.”

Another added:

“Is she going to reimburse what you’re out of pocket? Shocking for her to change when she knows you’ve booked.”

Someone else wrote:

“Wow – she is completely out of order here, particularly as it is a foreign wedding and you have made plans and paid for everything.”
