The clever reason why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle turned this image black and white

On Monday, May 6, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the birth of their first child.

Prince Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was then introduced to the world two days later through an intimate photo shoot of the new parents and the little royal at St. George's Hall in Windsor Castle.

The proud parents stood holding the two-day-old baby and then, hours later, released his name to the world by posting a photo on Instagram.

The image in question is a black and white shot and features Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and Doria Ragland all looking lovingly at Archie.

"It's the first picture of the baby and that's going to be Googled for years and she wants to make sure it's right. She would have thought it all through, long and hard."

"It could also be a way for Meghan to distance her photos from the 'high contrast, filtered images' that dominate Instagram feeds," a photography expert revealed on why Meghan turned the image black and white.

This isn't the first time Harry and Meghan have chosen to post a black and white image. The pair also picked a black and white photo to announce their engagement news and so, it could be a nice way for them to keep a photo or the backdrop from ever dating by publishing it in black and white.

The photography expert continued by telling Hello! that a black and white image is simply "beautiful. It's very forgiving."

Well, we don't disagree on that.

And as this is the first week we've seen baby Archie, another royal expert analysed the first image of the pair standing together, revealing why Prince Harry might have chosen to hold the baby in the first official image. You can read that here.
