Coronation Street ‘cancelled’ for a week for Euro 2020 qualifiers

Keeley Ryan

Sorry, Coronation Street fans.

Monday night’s double-bill was one of the most dramatic yet, as Sinead Tinker was told that she has just weeks to live and Sophie Webster left the cobbles.

But for fans waiting to see what’s going to happen next, we’ve got some bad news: there is going to be no Coronation Street episodes tonight – or Monday night, either.

It all comes down to the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

On October 11, there will be no new episodes of Coronation Street or Emmerdale, as Virgin Media One are showing England’s match against the Czech Republic.

It’s going to be more of the same on October 14, as the channel will be showing England vs Bulgaria.

The schedule will be back to normal as of Wednesday, October 16.

However, it isn’t all bad news for soap fans.

According to Digital SpyCoronation Street will soon be lining up a week with *seven* episodes in total.

Yes, that’s right: as of October 21, there will be seven episodes – including an extra one at 8.30pm on Thursday, October 24.

And there will be more trips to the ‘dales, too.

Emmerdale will be airing the equivalent of seven episodes, with fans being treated to an hour-long episode on Tuesday, October 22.
