Coronation Street’s Charlie Lawson hints at a possible return for Jim McDonald

Coronation Street’s Charlie Lawson has hinted at a possible return for Jim McDonald.

The actor appeared on Lorraine on Tuesday, where he spoke about the iconic Weatherfield resident – who is celebrating the 30th anniversary of his and Liz’ s arrival on the cobbles this year.

He refused to rule out a possible return to the cobbles, explaining that he had been in touch with Corrie producer Iain MacLeod recently.

“It’s the first time in 40 years in this business that I finally meet a producer who keeps in contact with the actors,” he joked, before adding he had been in touch with MacLeod the day before. “There are ideas [for a possible return].

“It’s not really down to [MacLeod], it’s down to the writers. He says, if they come up with something. The only thing he does is if it’s a load of rubbish, he’ll say [it].”

The actor added that you “can’t possible separate” Liz and Jim.

“They’re meant to be,” he said. “It’s like [Richard] Burton and [Liz] Taylor. So, who knows?”

He also told how it was “very easy” for him when he goes back to Corrie, as he loves working with Beverley Callard – who plays Liz McDonald – so much.

“It’s very easy for me because I’ve lived ‘in Beverley’s pocket’, in inverted commas, for a long time,” he joked. “It’s two minutes and [we’re back]. We’re very lucky”
