Coronation Street’s Shona Ramsey to hit ‘breaking point’ after latest David twist

Coronation Street’s Shona Ramsey will be left “hanging on by a thread” after she receives the latest news about her fiancé David Platt, according to actress Julia Goulding.

Shona is continuing to hope that she and David will still be able to say ‘I do’ next month, with her fiancé due to be released from jail in the coming weeks.

However, Josh Tucker’s stabbing in the recent prison riot looks to set to change things. Scenes set to air next week will see David, who maintains his innocence, charged with attempted murder – and he gets told he’ll be staying in jail until the trial.

Which, realistically, probably isn’t good news for the plans of a November wedding.

Julia Goulding explained how Shona will be left “hanging on by a thread” after the latest blow.

“Shona is fully aware that the wedding might not go ahead but she can’t even begin to think about that outcome because she has to stay positive as she is at breaking point,” she explained to Digital Spy.

“With what she’s been through with Max, coping with the kids on her own, still holding down a job, Gail disappearing, Sarah not really being around, David being in prison, Shona is hanging on by a thread. That thread is the hope of David getting out and everything going back to normal.”

She added that Shona is “absolutely gutted” and “heartbroken” when David is refused bail, as she begins to worry that he may spiral.

“Being around Josh is opening up a load of old wounds for the both of them, but she is not there to protect him and she was a major catalyst of getting David through that really dark time after David was raped,” Julia continued.

“Not only is Shona at breaking point, she fears that David is as well.”
