Corrie character set for shock exit after Underworld roof collapse

Coronation Street is reportedly lining up a shocking exit for another character after this week’s factory roof collapse.

Late last year, Coronation Street showrunner Iain MacLeod announced that a beloved Weatherfield resident would be dying as the Underworld factory collapsed.

He explained that the factory collapse is going to appear as an accident at first, however the mystery will be “revealed to be a mystery and it’ll have been some kind of criminal enterprise that causes it all to fall down.”

And eventually, the Weatherfield residents will begin to realise that the factory collapse is actually the work of a twisted person among them – a new “long-range” super villain.

Now, it has emerged that another character will be leaving the soap in a surprise exit.

Warning, this story may contain spoilers for Coronation Street’s factory collapse.

According to The SunConnie Hyde – who plays Gina Seddon – is leaving the soap after two years.

In scenes that aired on Monday night, the factory staff – as well as Gemma and Emma – locked themselves into the building in protest of Carla’s new business model, which will see them lose their jobs.

Gina and her sister, Sally, ended up in danger after they climbed onto the scaffolding to hang their protest banners on the building.

However, they get in an almighty row – and just as tensions rise, the factory roof collapses.

Sally’s fate remains unclear at the moment, but Gina is said to survive the tragic incident – and will leave Weatherfield alive.

A source told the publication:

“Connie is still very much part of the Corrie family but Gina’s time on the street has come to a natural end – for now.

“The character could return, but it won’t be as a permanent fixture and Gina won’t be living on the cobbles anymore.

“She is obviously the second high profile exit this year after Bhavna Limbachia as the soap tries to freshen up the Street.”
