Corrie’s David to face fresh heartbreak after Shona wakes from her coma

Keeley Ryan

Coronation Street’s Shona Ramsey is set to wake from her coma with amnesia – and she won’t remember her husband, David Platt.

Shona got shot in the stomach on Christmas Day, after she got caught in the crossfire when Derek was trying to get revenge on Gary.

She initially seemed fine at first, however her health took a massive turn and she fell into a coma. And then there was further heartbreak as the doctors told David that Shona’s brain activity had deteriorated – and she may not make a full recovery.

However, David has remained by his wife’s bedside and seemed to get some good news on Monday as, after doctors removed Shona’s breathing tube, she was able to breathe on her own.

But it looks like there’s fresh heartbreak in store, as Shona is reportedly soon set to wake from her coma – but won’t recognise David, or the rest of her family.

According to Metro, scenes set to air will show David playing recordings of Max and Lily as he sits by Shona’s bedside. And when her eyes flicker, he gets excited – especially after the consultant confirms Shona is starting to come out of her coma.

Shona opens her eyes again, but the reality becomes clear: she doesn’t recognise David.

Later on, Shona regains consciousness and – as she tries to speak – it seems the she still can’t recognise David. The consultant tells David that Shona has some very serious memory issues, and that it could take up to a year before things improve.

David continues to try and jog her memory, bringing Max and Lily to the hospital – but everyone is left horrified when Shona confuses Max for Clayton.

He later goes back to the hospital with their wedding album – could that be what Shona needs to see to regain her memories?
