Make this small change before bed and you should sleep much better

It's not always easy but it works.

Could you sleep with your phone in a different room?

It all depends on how attached you are to your cellular device and for a lot of people, that’s VERY attached.

One expert believes the key to getting a good night’s sleep is simple: leave your phone in another room, anywhere but the place you’re sleeping.

Ellen Vora, M.D, a holistic psychiatrist, spoke to Mind Body Green and explained why this simple idea makes all the difference.

As someone who finds it impossible to sleep on a regular basis, I’ve given this tip a try and can report that it does improve how you sleep.

If you have a tendency to reach for your phone when sleep isn’t going the way it should be, you’ll know just how distracting this can prove.

So, why should you make the effort to leave your phone in another room before you attempt to head for the land of the nod?

Mums know just how valuable sleep really is and that’s why we’ll take any trips that can improve the quality of the shut-eye you actually manage to get.

Ellen says there are three different reasons for making the break.

Firstly, the ‘blue-spectrum light’ that comes from a phone screen is ridiculously distracting and has the ability to wake you up, completely, even confusing yourself that it’s daytime instead of the middle of the night. Not ideal.

Secondly, messing around with apps on your phone has your brain on red alert and once that happens, you can completely forget about drifting off.

Thirdly, if you have emails set up on your phone, you’ll know exactly how distracting this can be.
