Glanbia’s CountryLife Garden Centres are giving away free seeds to save the bees

Want to get the whole family involved in helping to save the Irish bee population?

With the school holidays well underway, Glanbia’s CountryLife Garden Centres want entire families to create a buzz and are now giving away free wildflower seeds to customers at its award-winning garden centres across Leinster and Munster.

Staff in store will also be highlighting which plants are particularly pollinator –friendly, making it lots easier for all the family to help protect our bees.

Bee populations globally are dropping which could be devastating to the planet. Many scientists and experts are suggesting that everyone should try and stop this from happening by making their gardens bee=friendly.

Making your garden bee-friendly can be anything from cutting back on weed killers which are also bee killers and by planting wildflowers so that bees always have plenty of food.

Only a couple of months ago I planted wildflower seeds with my children which have begun to sprout.

Glanbia Ireland’s Jessica Kelly said their actions are designed to help further boost awareness among gardeners of the actions they can take to help biodiversity in their gardens.

“One-third of our bee species are threatened with extinction. We want to play our part in protecting Irish bees. What better way to do this than helping our customers to sow Irish-grown plants that bees prefer.”

If you and your family would like to take part in Operation PolliNation you can pop into your local CountryLife store to find out more and pick up your free seeds.
