The Harry Potter books look totally different for their 20th anniversary

The book series has had a bit of a facelift.

There are few books from our childhood that we think of as fondly as we do the Harry Potter series.

Yes, we read it cover to cover, we watched all the movies and even now we have to work hard to stop ourselves buying every item of HP merch in Penneys.

Well, the original books are getting a bit of a makeover to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their publication in the US and it looks totally different.

Publishers Scholastic has revealed the new lineup of covers for the much-loved series and they look slick.

The seven black and white covers all link together through the illustration of a woven snake to become one amazing piece of art.

“I’m a big Harry Potter fan and it is an incredible honour to illustrate J.K. Rowling’s iconic series,” cover artist Brian Selznick said of the new design.

“I am thrilled to play a part in this exciting 20th-anniversary celebration and look forward to meeting Harry Potter fans and readers across the country.”

The new editions of the classic books will be released in June, however, sadly they will only be available to Harry Potter fans in the US.

Not to worry – we’re still happy with our originals anyway.
