Kate’s Christmas gift to the queen is the ideal thing to give in-laws

What do you get the woman who has everything?

What a woman.

She’s stylish, a jet-setter, a mum-of-three (almost) and also, as it turns out, a dab hand in the kitchen.

Kate Middleton is a bit of an all-rounder but it sounds like even she gets anxious about what to give her in-laws at Christmas, which is totally fair – what do you buy someone who has literally everything?

Last year she decided to go a different route and give her granny-in-law, Queen Elizabeth, something with a personal touch.

“I thought “I’ll make her something, which could have gone horribly wrong,” she told the BBC.

She whipped up a batch of her own grandmother’s chutney, using the family recipe, especially for Liz and it sounds like it was well-received.

“I was slightly worried about it, but I noticed the next day that it was on the table,” she said.

Fair play – anything food-related is a fab present in our book.

Meghan Markle might want to keep that in mind this year as she’s due to spend her first Christmas with Harry’s family in a break from royal tradition.

Generally, only spouses are permitted to spend Christmas with the Queen but the monarch reportedly invited Meghan herself.

An insider told Us Weekly that this is “a first” for the family.

“Given that Meghan doesn’t have family in the UK, it’s only right that she spends Christmas with Harry and his,” they said.
