Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom planning to start a family ‘sooner rather than later’

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are reportedly planning to start a family together “sooner rather than later.”

The pair announced their engagement earlier this week after the actor popped the question on Valentine’s Day.

Now, it looks like the couple are ready to take another big step in their relationship.

A source close to the Roar hitmaker told PEOPLE that she will be “slowing down her career this year”, adding that the couple “want to get married and start a family sooner rather than later.”

Another source close to Bloom added: “They both want kids together and will prioritize this.”

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor is already dad to 8-year-old Flynn, whom he shares with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

Perry and Bloom initially started dating in 2016, but split the following year. They reconnected in early 2018 – and, according to the source, the decision to take their relationship to the next level wasn’t spur of the moment.

They added:

“They’ve been talking about getting engaged for a while. After reconciling Katy has felt very secure with Orlando and they both knew it was different this time.

“They made their relationship a priority and both of them literally flew all around the world to keep their relationship strong.”

The insider added that Perry was in “a bad place” after her split from her ex-husband, Russell Brand, so “getting married again is a huge deal.”
