“I have given my body over to my family, so this is my way of reclaiming it.”

Mairead Ronan has admitted that she’s trying to ‘park her guilt’ about leaving her young children as she takes part in Dancing With The Stars.

The hit RTÉ One show returned to screens last night and will see 11 celebrities battle it out to become champion.

Mairead, who is partnered with professional John Nolan, said that doing the show has allowed her to reclaim her body.

She gave birth to her third child, daughter Bonnie, in August and is still breastfeeding at night.

“I went from maternity leave back to extreme full-time after three months but it’s not for ever,” she told The Sunday Mirror.

“It was a short, sharp shock to the system. I have two babies under two years and I’m still breastfeeding at night.

“I have given my body over to my family, so this is my way of reclaiming it for a while. My husband said ‘go for it’ and I’m trying my best to park the guilt.”

Four-month-old Bonnie is doing great while her mum takes time for the show, she added.

“Bonnie is a brilliant baby and she’s being extremely well cared for which means I can immerse myself in this, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.

“It’s full on from day one but you just surrender yourself to it. I don’t think there’s any point in saying yes to the show unless you do.”
