Maintaining friendships as you get older isn’t exactly easy.

People grow up, move away, and get into new jobs and hobbies, making keeping up with the people you grew up with or hung out with in your early twenties a little trickier.

It’s said to be no different for Meghan Markle, whose life has changed immeasurably in the past couple of years.

She’s gone from a quite life with plenty of freedom in Toronto, where Suits is filmed, to living in a fish bowl with the eyes of the world on her.

As well as forfeiting her privacy, Meghan has had to delete her social media as part of her new royal life so it was probably inevitable that some friendships would become strained.

A source has revealed that since getting married, the Duchess has grown apart from some of her pals as she’s wary of trusting people.

“Meghan has lost touch with some of her close friends from before the wedding, which has been tough. She’s finding it hard to know who to trust,” a source told People Magazine.

“There’s a small group of us that check in with her and see how she’s doing, but she’s still the same person,” her makeup artist Daniel Martin added.

Sadly, it’s just part and parcel of royal life, according to Emily Nash of Hello! magazine.

Meghan, she said, will be “getting used to a more discreet social life . . . she is still going to be seeing and speaking to her most trusted friends just as before.”
