“She’s always relied on her own voice.”

Being at the centre of a media storm can’t be easy – especially when the attention isn’t all that positive.

It’s been a whirlwind year for Meghan Markle, who officially began public life with her first royal engagement last December.

Since then she’s become the most-Googled woman in the world and has had to adjust to life in a fishbowl, all while getting married and preparing to welcome her first child.

Coverage around the Duchess has turned sour in the past few weeks amid claims that palace staff have found her difficult and that she’s fallen out with sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

It’s sure to be a tough time but what Meghan is reportedly finding the hardest part of all is the fact that she can’t defend herself.

The royals tend not to comment on stories about their private lives and as she has no personal social media, she has no outlet to speak up.

Meghan is finding it “frustrating and stressful” that royal protocol is stopping her from giving her side of the story, an insider says.

“She’s always relied on her own voice to stand up for others, and for herself,” the source told Us Weekly.

“So not being able to say anything is a debilitating feeling.

“She’s always been so independent, her entire life, and that’s all been taken away from her.

“She’s always been able to clap back on social media and now she can’t.”

We get why she’d be fed up – we’d be the exact same if we were being talked about and couldn’t weigh in.
