Mum complains about no-uniform days, saying it ‘differentiates’ the kids

Olivia Hayes

No-uniform days can be a pain, yes.

Depending on whether your kid is into their clothes or not, sometimes they’ll want a whole new outfit for the one day, and it can be an absolute pain having to organise it for them.

However, one mum has taken to Mumsnet to say that she wants to send her child to school in their uniform and donate double the money.

She wrote:

“It just gets so competitive and clearly differentiates the haves from the have nots… can’t I just donate double and DD can wear uniform?”

However, some mums commented that while it might be what she wants, it might not necessarily be what her daughter wants, and her decision could disappoint her DD.

“You can do but would she be happy doing that?

Another wrote:

“My DS  was the only one in uniform last week and I felt horrific. He was in tears most of the day. I felt so dreadful. I had to go straight to work so couldn’t even drive home to grab him something to change.”

While others said that their children aren’t really bothered with them:

“My DS never takes part (by choice!). I know some kids dread them because they haven’t got a particular label or coat.”

Do you find no-uniform days a pain?
