Mum-to-be sparks fury with her ‘cheeky’ and ‘ridiculous’ baby shower request

She says there’s “no real choice but to attend”.

A mum-to-be has sparked anger among her friends with her “ridiculous’ baby shower request.

A friend of the woman’s turned to Mumsnet for advice about what to do regarding the “cheeky” request.

She explained:

“My friend is having a baby shower.

“She’s one of my best friends so there’s no real choice but to attend. Not keen on going at all, but I’ll go for her.

“She’s organised it to be in a function room of a social club. She’s pleased because she’ll only have to charge £15 per head.

“I thought she meant that’s all she’d have to pay, but no, that’s what she’s charging the guests to attend to cover the costs.

“AIBU [am I being unreasonable] in thinking this is ridiculous?”

And her fellow Mumsnet users were equally as confused (and outraged) over the mum-to-be’s plans for her baby shower.

Especially due to the fact that she appears to be organising the festivities herself.

One parent said:

“Does that include food and drink? I thought the idea was other people organised a baby shower so the mother to be shouldn’t really pay anything?

“It’s not my thing at all, and I wouldn’t go to one under any circumstances. You have that option available.”

Someone else wrote:

“So you have to pay her £15 plus buy her a present? I’d just have a ‘prior commitment’ that day.”

Another person added:

“Sounds like an incredible waste of money to me.”
