People reckon that the Queen threw shade at Donald Trump with her tiara

Rebecca O'Keeffe

Bit of a stretch, but we’ll take it.

President Donald Trump is currently on an official visit to the United Kingdom.

Most of his trip has featured the royal family in some way.

Donald has met with Prince Charles and Camila, and of course, the Queen herself.

It is no secret that Donald Trump is not exactly a popular figure in the UK, with thousands taking to the streets to protest his visit.

And now, people reckon that the Queen actually threw some shade at the president, with her choice of tiara.

On Monday evening, Queen Elizabeth hosted a banquet for Donald Trump and his family.

There were speeches, bottles of very expensive Champagne, and a lot of pleasant conversation.

The Queen wore a beautiful embellished cream dress, a blue sash and a tiara.

But apparently there was a rather intriguing meaning behind the tiara.

The Queen chose the Burmese Ruby Tiara for the formal event.

‘Tonight we celebrate an alliance that has helped to ensure the safety and prosperity of both our peoples for decades, and which I believe will endure for many years to come.’ This evening, a State Banquet was held in the Ballroom at Buckingham Palace in honour of the State Visit of the President and Mrs Trump. In her speech at the banquet, The Queen spoke of the mutual aims and beliefs of both countries, saying, ‘Mr President, as we look to the future, I am confident that our common values and shared interests will continue to unite us.’ The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Duke of York and The Earl and Countess of Wessex also attended the banquet. ? According of to the Royal Exhibitions website, the stones of this particular tiara are believed to protect whoever is wearing from “evil” and “illness”.

Shots fired. We see you.

“The Burmese ruby tiara was ordered to be made by the Queen in 1973. The design of the jewel is in the form of a wreath of roses. It is conventional yet detailed,” reads the website.

The description continues:

“There are clusters of rubies in the centre of each flower, and the petals are made using brilliant diamonds. The 96 rubies set into the tiara were a present from the Burmese people.”

Then, it gets juicy.

“The number of stones represent the number of diseases that the Burmese people believe can afflict the human body. They credit the ruby with prophylactic properties guarding the wearer not only against illness, but also against evil.”

Now, we’re not sure if the Queen meant to wear this as a symbol, but these things are rarely a coincidence.
