Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness teases that he’s in the running to be the new GBBO host

“I’ve heard a rumour.”

Sandi Toksvig made the decision to quit the Great British Bake Off yesterday afternoon. Channel 4 shared a statement from Sandi on their website, with her saying that she wants to concentrate more on her “other work.”

The statement read:

“When stepping down from a job it is quite common for people to say they are doing so in order to spend more time with their family.

“Unusually I am departing from the Great British Bake Off so I can spend more time with my other work. As my waistline will testify, Bake Off is an all-consuming show. Spending time with Prue, Paul and Noel has been one of the great pleasures of my life.

“These are friendships which I know will continue beyond the confines of television. Bake Off is a wonderful programme which has already proved it can happily withstand a change of hosting personnel. The reason for that, of course, is that the true stars of the show are the bakers themselves. I wish everyone well.”

The show is currently on the lookout for a new host, and it seems one very popular star wants it.

Stirring up rumours himself, Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness shared a tweet last night where he photoshopped himself into a promo shot for GBBO.

He captioned the post: “I’ve heard a rumour…”

And it seems he’s a popular choice with loads of people supporting him in the comments:

What do you think? Would you like to see the Queer Eye star host alongside Noel Fielding?
