RTÉ Meteorologist Joanna Donnelly got the cutest letter following Ophelia

Great to see.

This will warm your heart just a little…

As we’re sure you can imagine, Monday was a rather hectic day for Met Éireann and their meteorologists.

Storm Ophelia battered Ireland throughout the day, but RTÉ and Met Éireann were there all day providing updates and advice to the people of Ireland, and generally people them informed.

We can often underestimate how important their job of warning people is, but when you see how much it meant to this one little girl, you’ll realise just how vital it is.

The letter reads:

“Dear Ms Donnelly,

Thank you so much for warning us all about Hurricane Ophelia and calling a red warning. My Dad is a fisherman and he is safe. My Grandad is a fisherman too and he is safe.

From Olivia O’Driscoll
Schull,
West Cork

P.S. Thank you for two days off school.”

Donnelly shared the image on her Twitter along with the note: “My work here is done. I’m off to for the dinner. Stay safe on the roads. xxx .”

She’s having a slightly less hectic day today following the drama of Storm Ophelia yesterday which killed three people, caused hundreds of millions worth of damage and left hundreds of thousands without power.
