Whoops!

As we all know, every year John Lewis keeps their Christmas Advert top secret until a few days before its release. Then, they slowly but surely leave hints about what we can expect. This year, and last year, they created a whole new Twitter account teasing the advert.

We already knew that it would be a Gruffalo type character and this teaser confirmed the rumours.

And they also went a bit further this time around by changing the shop front to show the monster’s eyes.

All staff and the people who worked on the advert are sworn to secrecy about the content until it’s official release, but someone is after slipping up.

Apparently, one store in London accidentally started selling a cuddly toy that looks very like the one in the teaser. As we know, John Lewis, along with other retailers, bring their Christmas Adverts to life in the form of a cuddly toy from the advert.

So, when people spotted the toy this week, they knew it was the one from the advert. It has subsequently been removed from the shelves which also has led people to believe it’s definitely the ‘monster’ from the advert.

It has the big round eyes, grey fur and is wearing one red and white sock.

One person who saw the teddy told The Sun:

“I’ve seen the #underthebed hashtag and trailers. I thought it had to be character from the adverts. When I went in to the same shop later the monsters had been completely removed from sale.

I had a little chuckle to myself because I realised someone must have made a big mistake.”
