The brand new Corrie set has been revealed and it looks great

Welcome to Victoria Street.

Corrie is growing – or at least its set is.

The Manchester-based soap has extended its famous cobbled set to include a whole brand-new street; Victoria Street.

It’s been mentioned in passing before by characters but never shown to viewers – until now.

The extension was unveiled this morning, revealing a whole host of new shops and businesses including a tattoo parlour, Weatherfield Police Station, Weatherfield North tram stop, a new curry house and a community garden.

The soap will be continuing to build on its brand partnerships with two new product placements on Victoria Street – a Costa coffee shop and a Co-Op store.

The community garden contains a mosaic bench that was built in memory of the victims of last year’s Manchester bombing.

21 people died when a device was detonated at an Arianna Grande concert at Manchester Arena in May.

Among the first people to see the bench was the family of Martyn Hett, a Coronation Street superfan who died in the incident.

“The Victoria Street extension represents an exciting chapter in Corrie history: an amazing new stage, full of dramatic potential,” said series producer Kate Oates.

“Our amazingly talented design team have created everything from scratch – but it still manages to have the feeling of always having been there, just around the corner.”

The new set will first be seen on screen on Friday 20 April.

Coronation Street first moved to its new home at Trafford Studios at MediaCityUK in Salford, Manchester in 2013.

It had been filmed at the old Granada Studios on Quay Street in the city since 1981.

The old, abandoned set is currently being demolished and looks like a bit of a bombsite.
