The Queen left ‘shocked’ after first visit to Kate and Will’s country home

Kate and Wills do things their own way.

When Queen Elizabeth first visited the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at their country home in Norfolk, she was left ‘shocked’.

According to reports, when the Queen first made the trip to Anmer Hall to see her grandson and his family, she was surprised by how differently the couple do things in comparison to life in Buckingham Palace.

The kitchen is the hub of their home and both Kate and William spend a lot of time there, with their children too.

A source told Express.co.uk that the Queen just “couldn’t get her head around” the idea of spending so much time in the kitchen.

The royal insider said:

“When the Queen visited the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at Anmer Hall for the first time, she couldn’t get her head around the fact the kitchen is the main base for them.

“For the Queen, she can’t stand that because she is used to having a set room for that sort of thing”.

The source also said that when the Queen visits Balmoral, her Scottish estate, she never goes into the kitchen.

In stark contrast then, the kitchen at Anmer Hall is the “main hub” of Kate and Will’s home.

It leads into the dining room and the couple can often be found there, hanging out with their children.

There you go, how times change!
