This is how much money Irish parents spend on their kids until they reach 25

Your jaw will drop

Well, this is startling.

We shell out thousands year after year on our kids. Between their health, schooling, clothes, food, after-school activities, and whatever else they need, we will do our best to pay for it all.

However, you don’t actually notice how much it all adds up to over the years.

And while a lot of kids move out or become independent at the age of 18, many stay with Mammy and Daddy until they find their feet in the world.

action, activity, balls

So, putting everything together, Irish Country Living found that Irish parents shell out a quarter of a million Euro on their kids by the time they turn 25.

Shocking, right?

The survey shows that it’s all the little added extras that add up and it advises new parents to stop buying things like wet wipe warmers when preparing for birth.

100 Euro

It also recommends asking other parents for help when looking for special offers in shops and supermarkets.

The Irish Examiner found that one of the biggest expenses you will pay for is your child’s First Holy Communion, with it totalling between €700 – €1,000.

While we would obviously give our kids the world, we can’t believe how much it all adds up to.
