This viral thread about two strangers (maybe) falling in love on a plane is too cute

Keeley Ryan

There are a million and one things that can go wrong when you’re flying somewhere.

Lost luggage, delayed flights and extreme turbulence – just to name a few.

But one social media user may have managed to make an unexpected bit of magic on a recent flight.

It all began when Twitter user Rosey Blair said that she and her boyfriend had asked a woman to swap seats on a plane home – that way, they could sit together.

She added:

“We made a joke that maybe her new seat partner would be the love of her life and well, now I present you with this thread.”

She followed that up with a post about how the woman’s new seat mate had arrived, and the pair appeared to hit it off.

Around two-dozen-or-so rom-com-esque posts followed – and we were basically hooked from the get-go, hoping for some kind of happily ever after for the pair.

In case you haven’t seen the full thread yet, here’s a run down of what happened:

  • The pair basically spent the first leg of the trip chatting away.
  • There were “no wedding rings in sight” (both later confirmed to be single)- and there was talk of Ted talk sending when they landed

  • They continued to get closer and closer. Which is impressive, since there’s not that much room on a plane.
  • They shared a menu while deciding on what to get from the drink/snack cart, before sharing a cheese board.
  • They began to show each other photos of their families. He even shared some baby videos of himself.

  • People got increasingly more hooked on the story as it all went on – were (as they came to be known) #hunkyplaneguy and #prettyplanegirl going to get their happily ever after?!
  • Important questions were asked.

  • Battery packs thankfully came to the rescue.

They left baggage claim together and it seemed like the whole saga was over.

Until the thread got sent to the plane guy, who responded to the whole thing.

Plane guy – who is actually named Euan Holden – replied to one of Rosey’s Instagram stories (where the saga was first shared), writing:

“My friend just sent me your twitter feed, hilarious. I knew you were taking a picture at the end of the flight – I even said it to her.”

The whole story became known as #CatchingFlightsANDFeelings and, while there’s still no word on what happened next, we’re hoping these two found their happily ever after.
