Scientist says we should be bring our cats on walks more often

Olivia Hayes

Well, this is interesting.

A scientist has said that we should be treating our cats like dogs in an effort to make them happier.

Scientist Dr David Grimm, who is the deputy editor of Science magazine said that bringing your cat on a walk like you would do your dog will give them more “enrichment” in life. He also suggested that owners should walk their cats for 30-60 minutes per day.

He wrote a piece in the New York Times and said: “We just wanted our two kittens to experience more of the world than our cramped apartment in Baltimore.

“We need to start walking our cats. I’m not saying that you should put your cat on a leash like we did but it does keep them from running out into traffic.

“We should pick them up when they head for the street. We should whistle or clap when they begin stalking a bird. And we should have a bag of treats ready when it’s time to call them back indoors.”

Would you be open to bringing your cat on a walk? Do you think it would make them happier?
